I am a man with very limited time. I am a caretaker for two autistic adult sisters and need about 12 more hours in a day. I have been slowly making progress with PV19 for about 8 months. I love the map very much and want to continue. However, the original PV19 is a very labor intensive map if you want to play it to the fullest.

I have noticed PV County and it looks like there is an equal amount of things to do, but perhaps a little less work if one desires. I am seriously considering starting over with PV County, so that I may get more enjoyment from Pleasant Valley before a new version of FS/LS comes along and rewrites my history. :D

Any thoughts or a vote would help. Thanks and thank to dajnet and all other modders who have contributed and made this such a pleasant valley for me!

First I have to say thank you for being a caretaker for your family and taking the time needed for them.

As for the map or county I think it is alot more work with all the extra factories and resources. All I can say is Mods are your friend. Courseplay for all your fields. and if you play without teleport cheats, You can autodrive many routes, Xman has many autodrive paths already to the fields, drop off and sellpoints. Link to autodrive info click ---> Autodrive Tutorials | PV Community (pvmods.com).

I give County 10/10, Its amazing what Dave has done with this map. He has even spoke about making it a 64x sized map in future when its possible. Looks at toaster computer. Hmmm.

PV County has more content, so you can choose how you want to play and which factories you want to own. As I'm building up my farm, I'm not building every factory but just enjoying the ones I want to run. I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything. I can keep it as simple or as complex as I want.

And Dave will be adding a Smucker's factory and an Ocean Spray factory and then he will start working on the Fairgrounds. You don't want to miss out on any of the possible options Dave is putting into the map!

Thanks Ryan and H.C.! I downloaded all of the stuff I need to get started. Hoping I will be able to start a test run tonight. County looks really good, and has the majority vote currently. I use Farm Wrangler's Dashboard full version, so I can isolate both PVs from each other safely. I can start simple and see how it goes. The smaller fields should make using Precision Farming a lot easier. I don't use Seasons because of the time issues. I can't afford to rotate fields and plow snow and still enjoy myself.

I did read the guide and also like how you can choose to enter the business. I want to do them all (thus why I am such a fan of the Valley), but this gives me a good roadmap for being productive. I can start farming and husbandry while figuring out how to get started with resource production, building, or management. That will be a big help. Thanks again and I will be checking back with some thoughts and results.

PV tools also keeps them isolated in their own folders. Also you can run Pv tools and it will check your Pv mods and download the latest Pv county mod updates
Pv tools has a small learning curve, but the folder switcher can work on any map.

They are still working on getting it added to the windows trusted programs, so it gets flagged as a dangerous program.

I had been eyeballing that specifically for my PV stuff. I have no problems setting exceptions in Windows, so no concerns there. As a member of the Insider Program, I will definitely cast a vote to ask them to approve it.

I know this is off topic a bit but since I have your ears, can Maize Plus be used with County? I can't remember if I saw that anywhere in the guide. Or like the Original PV, is it really not needed? My PV19save wouldn't start with it anyway, which was good because it didn't corrupt a very hard worked save. 😅

It adds some different filltypes to enhance silage making. It can be good for immersion, but it can cause problems with filltype rules if a map has a lot of fruits already. For example, it will recognize Alfalfa cuttings and will turn it into AlfalfaSilage if you run a bale wrapper over it. But if the filltypes/fillplanes are full, when it drops it will become a straw bale. So it can be tricky. If you have your setup fine tuned and are happy, I wouldn't even recommend it. It adds those extra types to animals, so it does make taking care of them more complicated.

So I probably don't need it with PV County. Since it's a new save, I will probably try it and just get rid of it if it messes anything up. If I don't create a tutorial post about it in mods, then you know it didn't work out, lol. Thanks again for your help.

As many fill types and fruit types county has I would be afraid to add anything else, County even has a morgue , empty coffins, and deceased bodies, and a cemetery, Who needs different types of hay and Alfalfa.

Well the results are in. Definitely don't want to use Maize Plus. Everything was going fine until I dumped my grass into the Silage Silo. It stayed grass. That's usually a bad sign. So I got rid of it and started a new save. I can say after a few days playing, I don't miss it. I did see the morgue, since I started with the Horse Farm. Took me a minute to realize what could be done with it, but I got it! lol

Starting in Farm Manager mode, I will say that I like this one more. The layout is close enough to the original that I feel like I am already at home, but there does seem to be a lot more flexibility to playing it. Exactly what I needed. I think it is especially cool that you can choose a different vocation to start with. Every large map could take a lesson there! It really helped me focus and not get overwhelmed by where to start. I don't always like the location picked for maps and like to settle closest to the fields I want to eventually work.

So all and all, this is definitely the next evolution and I'm glad that investigated this setup. Also grateful for the notes you guys have provided. I can see from the poll that I am not alone.
